Join us for a free training with Lorena Mitchell, City of New Haven's Coordinator for Community Mental Health Initiatives.

Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is a practical and proven suicide prevention training. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. This training is about 90 minutes. Learn more at www.qprinstitute.com.

The Office of Community Mental Health Initiatives in a new division in city government. We envision a city where individuals, families, and communities can heal from trauma, find meaningful recovery from mental illness, and develop resilience and well-being.

About the Trainer:
Lorena Mitchell, LCSW, MPH is serving as the City’s inaugural Coordinator for Community Mental Health Initiatives and brings a wide range of research, program, and direct service experience in the mental health field. She has worked as a social worker in psychiatric emergency services at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital, supported a community-based participatory research project assessing the impact of mental health programs in faith communities, and is now helping the city of New Haven collaborate with community partners to provide accessible, high-quality services in tandem with improving community conditions.
