After the challenges and disruptions of the past two years, we are eager to connect with one another again and welcome you into the shared spaces of the Library.
The New Haven Free Public Library Foundation welcomes you to attend Mardi Gras which will be returning in person on February 21, 2023 at the Ives Main Library located at 133 Elm Street, New Haven, CT. This year is doubly special - not only are we going to be resuming Mardi Gras in-person, we also will be celebrating the 136th year since the library opened its doors to the community.
Mardi Gras is a fun, festive celebration of New Haven — an evening full of delicious food and drink, live music and entertainment, and a Mardi Gras parade — all to support the incredible work of your public library.

Mardi Gras is a fun event to support the incredible work of the New Haven Free Public Library's city-wide system.
The Ives Main Library, designed by renowned architect, Cass Gilbert in 1911, is a cornerstone of the historic New Haven Green. The facility is a community treasure and features unique design details, including several WPA-era murals. Ives is open 54 hours a week, Monday-Saturday, and houses major public service departments for children and teens as well as adult reference, a computer tech center and Ives Squared, a newly renovated space for innovation and entrepreneurship.
