Cultural Academy IV will focus on Nikole Hannah-Jones "The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story" over the course of six weeks virtually this January and February.

The New Haven Free Public Library in Collaboration with the Urban League of Southern Connecticut present: Cultural Academy IV: The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story created by Nikole Hannah-Jones, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and New York Times Magazine.  The academy will meet over zoom from 12:00 to 1:30 PM Saturdays starting January 7th and concluding on Saturday, February 11th 2023.  Books can be reserved at www.nhfpl.org  Please register for the academy and contact Mitchell Branch Manager Marian Huggins to receive the the Zoom Meeting ID and Passcode for the Academy.

About the branch

The Donald G. Mitchell Memorial Library was founded in 1910, adopted into the New Haven Free Public Library System in 1922, and opened in its current facility in 1966. Situated on the edge of Beecher Park, Mitchell Library has become a cornerstone of the Westville, Amity, Beaver Hills, Edgewood, and West Rock neighborhoods. Residents frequent the library to attend community meetings; borrow the latest bestsellers; enjoy, attend, or participate in a library program; or take advantage of the library’s free Wi-Fi.
