Join us for a reception with local artists Magda Mraz and Kathleen DeMeo! The exhibit will be on display at the Mitchell Library December 1st through 31st.
Magda Mraz is a retired art teacher from the West Haven school system. She paints tall format oil pastel paintings of mythic and mysterious historical scenes. Magda is a resident of Westville on Lakeview Drive, and is originally from Prague, Czech Republic. She was student at the Industrial School for Ceramics in Karlovy Vary, Czechoslovakia. In 1967, her family emigrated to the US, and she continued her education at Queens College in New York City, where she earned her B.A. and M.F.A. degrees.
Kathleen DeMeo, is a monotype print-maker from Guilford. Her work explores real and imagined places through the unique lens of monotype printmaking. She strives to create a feeling of calmness and serenity in the landscapes, reflecting her reverence for nature. In a world that assaults our senses in myriad ways every day, they provide a peaceful and safe haven.

The Donald G. Mitchell Memorial Library was founded in 1910, adopted into the New Haven Free Public Library System in 1922, and opened in its current facility in 1966.
