Carl Testa, leads a workshop devoted to the practice of live coding where musicians and visual artists manipulate computer code to create audiovisual compositions and improvisations together.

Participants will learn how to use free, open-source tools like Estuary, TidalCycles, and Hydra to create their own music and visuals collaboratively.  Participants will leave with the knowledge of how to create their own expressive performances and how to continue their journey in learning more. 


This event is supported in part by an Artists Respond grant administered through the Connecticut Office of the Arts and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. 


This program will be held IN PERSON and registration is required.

About the branch

The Ives Main Library, designed by renowned architect, Cass Gilbert in 1911, is a cornerstone of the historic New Haven Green. The facility is a community treasure and features unique design details, including several WPA-era murals. Ives is open 54 hours a week, Monday-Saturday, and houses major public service departments for children and teens as well as adult reference, a computer tech center and Ives Squared, a newly renovated space for innovation and entrepreneurship.
