Artist Statement:
"I, George T. Ruffin Jr., started my art adventures in my childhood where my first piece of Martin Luther King Jr was put in the newspaper. That inspired me to pursue art with the support of my parents. I took art classes at the Brooklyn Museum in my childhood and I studied fine arts at NYIT. Life happens, and to live one needs money, and since my art wasn't feeding me, I let it go for a few months, before finding a job as an afterschool teacher, where I taught mathematics.
I found a way to incorporate art into the lessons, and applied that theory to life. Association is everything! Art is communication/language, where division is everyone's issue. I moved to New Haven in 2017 where I found a job caring for the autistic population. I am blind in one eye and I've overcome obstacles that have separated me from society yet broadened the horizons of society for me. As an artist, i go to any area with good intent and find that my art serves as a bridge for communication."
